Hello and thank you:

changing Trustees at KA

31/3/21

In 2020 the King’s Arms was due to celebrate its 20th anniversary as well as launch the King’s Arms in Alton and the new Petersfield site. It didn’t happen in perhaps the way expected, but things have still moved progressively forward over the last year.

We had hoped to say a proper “Goodbye” to one of the Trustee who had faithfully supported and encouraged the King’s Arms for almost all of its time at the Courtyard Building, as both a volunteer and latterly as a Trustee, and also to be able to welcome a new Trustee as we unveiled our new homes. The Trustees, staff and volunteers have been working hard during the Lockdowns and restrictions providing online support to young people where possible, running mentoring programmes and also carrying on with the building works and preparation works so that both sites were able to open as soon as the restrictions eased.

Edward ‘Ted’ Dowdeswell after long service both as a volunteer and a Trustees for the last 6 years has decided it is time to retire as trustee from the King’s Arms. He was involved with the many facets of the work and King’s Arms will miss him, and his wife Pam. His enthusiasm for the work with the young people and his support to the Trustee Board, the volunteers and staff will be missed.  When one Trustee retires it makes a space for someone new to step up and serve. With the new King’s Arms in Alton due to be opened the Trustees asked Rev Andrew Micklefield if he would like to be part of the Board.

Andrew is the vicar of the Parish of the Resurrection in Alton, and is involved in many of the activities run by the Alton Churches Together. He is looking forward to being an active part of the King’s Arms and said ‘There is nothing better than to see young people grow and develop to their fullest potential.’ He is looking forward to revealing the work of the King’s Arms to the people of Alton.

If you would be interested in having a tour of the new premises in either Alton or Petersfield please contact Will Schofield (will@thekingsarms.org.uk) who will arrange for one of our trustees to show you around.
